I’ve just been PUBLISHED for the first time…woo hoooo, happy dance! Here is a link to the Spiritual Badass Magazine…don’t forget to sign up to get an email when the next edition comes out, they come out quarterly. I cut my article short due to space constraints, so I thought I’d post a more comprehensive version for you here:

If you are reading this, you are likely familiar with common chakras. For the purposes of this post, let’s simply consider the chakras like a set of stairs, where you take the first step, then the next, to lead you higher and higher. And in this context, higher is a more joyful expression of life. You can hum Stairway to Heaven to yourself if you’d like right now.

The first step, or chakra, is the Root Chakra, which is all about stability and security in your own physical body. Having enough food to eat, appropriate clothes for the weather, and a roof overhead, are going to take top priority, and all of your energy, until you’ve obtained them. Nothing else is going to stay in place until you take care of this—it’s the foundation of you even appearing in this world at all—you have to take care of YOU first, so you can continue to be here on this plane of existence.

The next step up from there is the Sacral Chakra. This is the place of “I Want”. This is where you move past surviving, and onward towards thriving! If you try to sit in this place before your Root needs are met, all you’re going to hear is “I Want…(to Live)”, and you’ll bounce right back down to the Root until you get your survival handled. But let’s assume you’ve done that work and are ready to move on.

The Sacral Chakra is about relationships and connection to others, but that’s only part of the story. The most important relationship connection the Sacral Chakra holds, is with yourself. Who you are is driving your life purpose, which is wrapped up in your own unique desires, in your “I Want”. But here’s the kicker: your “I Want” is ONLY the stuff that is all about YOU. It’s not what you want for those around you, or even for the world. The Root Chakra could be said to run in a large part on instinct, but the Sacral Chakra is quite prone to programming. Any outside source telling you what you should want, is going to be processed through the Sacral Chakra. And once a “should” gets enough positive reinforcement, it becomes a habit.

So, what happens when you live your “I Want” as a Should-habit instead of as the truth that was intrinsically formed inside you? Well, the next step up the chakra chain is the Solar Plexus, which houses the personal identity. When the Wants that you live have been founded on habits which were programmed around Shoulds, you tend to emanate a personal identity that is artificial at some level, instead of who you really are at your core. This is why you can’t find yourself until you find your “I Want(s)”. And until you find yourself, and are able to allow your “I Want” to pass through in its true form, you’re going to experience conflict and struggle, because you are spending your energy on filtering and forcing, instead of embracing and elevating.

Some indications that your Wants may have been programmed as Shoulds, are if you’ve had any of the following thoughts about yourself go through your head, and they’ve stopped you from doing something: “I feel so fake sometimes”, “I wish I could do that but I can’t”, “yeah, that’s easy for her to say/do, she doesn’t have (my family, my health issue, my community, my poverty) to consider”, “that’s so selfish/greedy”, “who am I to think/act that?”, and pretty much any negative self-talk. For real, any of it.

If it feels like I’m suggesting that nearly every spiritual block (limiting belief) you might have is resting in a Should-programmed Sacral Chakra—that’s because I am! Your Root Chakra facilitates your physical existence in this world, your Sacral Chakra facilitates how you Want to show up in the world, and the Solar Plexus simply magnifies the Wants, so you show up as the YOU that you Want. This is why it is critical to dig down into those Wants, and ensure you have stripped away the Shoulds…so you can show up as who you really are! “How do I do that”, you ask?

You’ve refined your Vision Board umpteen million times, said affirmations til you were blue in the face, primed the pump with gratitude…so what gives, Universe? Why am I still not receiving??

This can be a complex topic, but for the purposes of this post I am going to focus on ONE very simple answer: you are not receiving because you are not allowing yourself to receive. Go ahead, fling those expletives at me, get it out of the way…

…and now that you’re ready to consider it, take a gander at a few of the most common reasons that we won’t allow ourselves to receive (see? I’m not pointing fingers, I said ‘we’):

#1 You Might Be a Taker
This one sounds kinda rough, and is actually the least likely to be a cause for anyone who is sincerely seeking their spiritual path, but I still want to mention it. If you have a belief that abundance flows to those who reach out and grab it, no matter the ramifications or consequences, and that people who don’t do the same are losers, then you are missing a HUGE piece of the puzzle. Abundance is intended for your highest good, and your highest good is never going to be found in the act of mowing down everyone in your way. The good news is that you can seek help, change your perspective, and bring balance into your life–which is guaranteed to bring more abundance.

#2 You Have Root Chakra Issues
This can actually be the cause of Reason #1 for many people! In a nutshell, your Root, or Base, Chakra deals with security and stability in this physical world. If you have a long history of insecurity in this world, through experiences such as being physically abused or neglected, starving or being chronically hungry, being homeless or not having a safe place to live, you’ve likely adopted the belief that security and stability are hard to come by. Even if you are now prospering in comparison to those past experiences, there is the constant fear that without vigilance, you might return to that state. It could seem counter intuitive that focusing on NOT returning to that state would keep you from abundance…but as they say, energy flows where the thoughts go. If your thoughts are constantly on something you fear, fear is a very strong, and very powerful attracting emotion.

#3 You Despise Wealth or Wealthy People
This bears a lot of similarities to Reason #2, in that it’s fear-based, but it’s more based on a fear that’s been projected onto the future. At some point you interacted with someone you perceived as “wealthy”, and you (or someone you cared about) got the $#!+ end of the stick out of that deal. It could also be that you yourself came into some money, then noticed folks started treating you differently, in a way you did NOT like at all. Listen to your words, and if you find yourself saying any of these things, you have wealth/abundance/money blocks: “Money is {the root of all} evil”, “Rich people are a$$holes”, “People only like him/her for the money”, “Money changes everything”, “I’m not a materialistic person”, “I don’t want to look greedy”.

#4 You Can’t Cut Community Ties
For some people, relationships really are everything. When they say, “You mean the world to me!” they almost literally mean it. In this case, your community could be an intimate partner, a group of friends, your parents or ancestors, your immediate family, or even just a belief about the way people in your industry tend to present themselves. The problem comes when you identify so closely or empathetically with your community that you can’t bear the thought of going on without them. You’ll likely find yourself in a leadership capacity in a few communities, but there’s a limit as to how much farther along you’re comfortable growing or achieving. The bottom line is that you won’t risk being rejected, or no longer being venerated, by your group, so you stay within those boundaries…always looking to others for permission that they actually have no idea you’re seeking from them (and that you have no idea you don’t even need).

#5 You Don’t Feel Deserving
In some cases, this genuinely shows up as self-worth issues, where you don’t feel you’ve done enough in exchange. In other cases, this shows up as a scarcity mentality. In other words, you think someone else has to do without, in order for you to get yours. And/or you think there’s only so much to go around, and by the time your turn comes around, there can’t possibly be anything left. You might catch yourself uttering one of these phrases: “Money doesn’t grow on trees”, “This is my hard-earned money”, “Someone else needs that more than I do”, “Ohhhh, I really shouldn’t {buy this thing I like}”, “I’m not good with money”, “I’m always a day late and a dollar short”.

#6 You Have Past Life Issues
This is pretty self-explanatory, right? You are basically still attached to a belief/energy that did not originate in this lifetime. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t FEEL real in this lifetime–it certainly does, and that’s the problem!

OMG, I RESONATE WITH SEVERAL OF THESE BLOCKS, WHAT DO I DO?!?

It’s your lucky day! I’ve just launched a 12-week program where we will explore these issues, and you’ll not only get one-on-one clearing/healing of your specific issues, I’ll also give you some tips and techniques you can use to keep up the flow on your own. The program is called Passion-Filled Profits, and focuses on you receiving what you want.

Head on over to my Work with Me page to get some healing started. It’s easy, painless, and even though it’s deep, it’s actually FUN!

Let me first say that I am not studied in astrology…however…I do know how to use Google. And when I hear of an astrological event coming up, I like to figure out how I can use it to Get shiFt Done! If you were paying attention to the New Moon on June 23rd, and set some clearing intentions with it, this Full Moon is the ideal time to tweak and/or complete it.

As with any Full Moon, things are generally chaotic and emotional. However, the specific astrology of this Full Moon apparently sets that power into overdrive. While you could initiate a catastrophic, and even violent, demise to a relationship, you could also choose to be conscious of your emotions and navigate them so diplomatically that you could actually create a new and lasting peace in a partnership that has previously seemed only to bring intractable conflict! It’s all about intention.

The Full Moon will be bringing with it an abundance of energy (for completing things and starting new ones), and passion, and you can get overwhelmed and moody if you haven’t planned a way to filter, or at least document, your brain traffic. You might consider grabbing a small notepad you can tuck in your pocket or purse, to have at the ready when thoughts are hitting you hard and fast, and you can’t or don’t want to fully process them at that moment. That way, you can get back to the thoughts when you’re less likely to be triggered by them emotionally. Allow yourself the option to “percolate” in a neutral space over what comes up, and address each tidbit at a later time that is optimal for you.

Also, know that you do NOT have to feel others’ emotions, everyone gets to feel what they choose to feel. As an example, someone who is normally respectful to you may use heated words that suggest they are waiting on you for a response, and they are losing patience! If you are not ready to respond, then DON’T. (If it’s not someone who is respectful to you to begin with, it may be best not to engage at all.) Let them feel the urgency in the moment if they want to feel it. You might find it can help calm the situation if you can validate their emotion, while at the same time sharing your concerns. You might say something like, “It sounds like you’re in a hurry to get an answer, and I just need to let you know that I’m very emotionally distracted/charged at the moment, and don’t feel I could give you a responsible answer right now.” Then consider offering a time they could check back with you, which could even be a simple, “I’d like to take about 10 minutes to think about it quietly first.”

I’m going to also draw a card for you today, let’s see what comes up…

I felt impressed to pull a card from my Sacred Geometry Oracle deck for you, the deck is by John Michael Greer. (I believe it’s out of print, I found my set online.) The card that came up is (4) The Circle, which is letting us know that this may not be the ideal time to start a new project. This is interesting because earlier I mentioned the Full Moon as being a great time for both completing ongoing projects AND starting new projects. I believe this card came up to clarify that following through with what you’ve already started is going to bring you greater return than jumping ship and switching gears, for the next few days. That’s not to say you shouldn’t pay attention to ideas that come in for new things–that’s what the notepad is for! Just jot them down so they don’t distract you from your Continuity (or consistency), and wait until at least the 12th of July for all the Full Moon energy to complete itself, before you take steps to start something else.

If you’re looking for a personal reading, head on over and Book Your Sessions. I’m currently offering hourly sessions which are a mix of readings, as well as intuitive coaching and clearing.

I have decided to go ahead and get my blog started…I haven’t settled yet on what topics I might cover, or any specific schedule, it just feels like time to start!
So, what is this ‘creatuitive’ thing all about, you might be asking? In a nutshell, creative and intuitive is kinda what I’m all about. I was introduced to something a few years ago called Human Design, which revealed that my only “channel” is one called Mating. That’s not just about reproduction, it’s also about creating, or creativity. Turns out I’m full of it! (lol) And creativity, at least in my book, is incredibly intuitive. Even when there is a process or art, there’s always an element that goes beyond simply following directions…and that’s the intuitive part. Embracing your creatuitivity (yes, I made up that word) is what makes you, YOU–and what makes your creations unique to you.
In a world of rules and laws and hierarchies, we tend to forget our uniqueness, or even fear it. How many times have you heard things like, “be the better person”, which basically means to let someone else’s wants supersede your own? Or, how about, “for the good of the whole”, which again means your personal desires take second chair? I feel like a better person is one who embraces their uniqueness, and when everyone’s doing that, THAT is for the good of the whole. I’m sure I’ll revisit this a lot; these are the types of myths that have actually held us back instead of carrying us forward.
To keep it short, my hope is that my blog will not only interest you, but also challenge you, and even inspire you, to be the YOUest YOU 😉
